He is an IT and management consultant for the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, San Miguel Corporation, GMA Network and various government agencies like the Department of Health, the Commission on Information and Communication Technology and the Government of Bohol. He has also consulted for Pioneer Insurance, the Yuchengco Group of Companies (YGC) and Intel Philippines. He is currently focusing on health informatics, developing online systems for clinics and medical decision-makers. His other fields of expertise are in creativity and innovation, data mining, change management and knowledge management (KM). Ruben was a member of the pioneer team that set up Sky Internet in 1995. Before that, he worked with Probe Productions to produce award-winning shows like The Probe Team and Agri-Link. He still contributes occasional blog articles to GMANews.tv. His interest in IT began in primary school, writing high school term papers focused on computers. In college he became a working student, teaching part time at the UP Computer Literacy Center from 1987 to the early 1990s on subjects such as DOS, Lotus 1-2-3, dBase II and III, and MS Word, WordPerfect and Storyboard Graphics. Ruben also worked as an editor/writer for the Freedom from Debt Coalition, wrote comicbooks that explained economic issues for Ibon Databank, contributed IT and feature articles for Newsbreak, Entrepreneur Magazine, Masigasig and the National Midweek. He is now a Board Director for the Probe Media Foundation Inc (PMFI), a non-profit organization promoting media literacy. He is also a Director at Dig It All Solutions Inc, a company that provides web-based solutions. Ruben co-founded Dig It All Solutions and used to be its CEO. |

Ruben Canlas Jr. teaches at the Ateneo Graduate School of Business (AGSB), the Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health (ASMPH) and the University of the Philippines Department of Computer Science. He completed his MS in Information Technology at the Carnegie Mellon University and his MBA from the AGSB.
