        Daan is an internationally recognized specialist with a proven track record in drafting and implementing Knowledge Management strategies, Knowledge Based Development and Information Communication and Technology (ICT) for Development programs for government, private organizations, and multilateral development organizations. This includes, among others, consultation with governments and other stakeholders to design specific knowledge programs; poverty reduction programs and sector/thematic programs such as e-government, -e-governance; e-health; e-learning; among others. With regard to Knowledge Management, it is worthwhile mentioning that he is involved in designing organizational structures, e-content, communities of practice, shadow organizations, wiki’s and blogs to enable knowledge sharing within the organization and with external networks.         Currently, he is Knowledge Management Coordinator for the International Organization for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), based in Kathmandu, Nepal.  As Coordinator, he is responsible for developing and implementing Knowledge Management.

        As Head of the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Knowledge Management Center from 2003 to 2007, he contributed to, and oversaw the implementation of the ADB’s Knowledge Management Strategy comprised of change management and communication; rationalization of knowledge products and services; creation of an ICT environment for an ICT enabled knowledge sharing environment; and establishment of Communities of Practices within the Bank and in the region.

        As KPMG’s Director for Knowledge Management in 2002 to 2003 (after being appointed to various posts within the Organization in his 30 years of service), he designed KPMGs Knowledge Management Framework based upon internet technology.
